Thank you for agreeing to be a Host Family for the District Youth Exchange programme.

The following contains forms for Host Families of Inbound students.  Please note documents are in a combination of Office 2007 format and PDF.  Should you not be able to read Office 2007 documents, then please advise me or download the File Converter Pack from Microsoft.

The Committee wishes to thank you for volunteering to host a Rotary Exchange Student.  Welcome to Host Parents who have done this before and a special welcome for all new Host Parents.

Additionally the Host Family must be familiar with and comply with the D9970 RYE programme policy and procedures manual, especially the District Abuse and Harassment Prevention Policies. As part of this requirement all Host Family members counsellors must attend the counsellor and host family training session organized by the District RYE committee. As a Host parent you will be required to complete:

1.      Youth Volunteer Declaration

2.      Consent for Police Vetting

3.   Host Application

4.   Home Inspection, and

5.      Attend D9970 Host Family and Counsellor Training

The documentation for you as a host parent is contained in many documents.  The first part is the Host Information Pack

The following forms are to be completed and send to the appropriate people:

Other documents: Risk Activities & Sports, Rules & Guidelines, Abuse & Harassment Policy, Code of Practice for Pastoral Care of International Students, International Tensions, Early Termination of an Exchange, Travel Guidelines and Rules

Highly recommended is the First Night Questionnaire.  Go over it with the student, even if you are the fourth host parents.

Finally, please remember, you need to be a really good friend to the student, whilst maintaining authority.  You will have a very enjoyable time and one where there is support available.

Being a Host for an Inbound student can be, and should be, a very rewarding task.  It is our task as the District Committee to ensure that the hosting experience is wonderful.

We have appointed Mrs Nancy White (Nelson West) to the newly created position of Host Family Co-ordinator.  Nancy will be in touch with each family each month and she will ask how things are.  She is there for you, and so feel free to discuss all aspects of the Student in your home with her.  However, only if the student files a report do we know where they are staying....

The Host Family Report is the paper version of what she will be asking so please discuss the points here with your partner & family and be ready to answer.
